How To Age Copper and Silver Without Chemicals

August 9, 2009 at 3:30 pm 1 comment

If you don’t like to use any chemicals due to the fumes to give jewelry an oxidized look, you can just try this simple method.

  • You need a hard boiled egg.
  • Ziploc bag
  • Unfinished copper or silver
  • Fine steel wool #0000

Place your jewelry in ziploc bag then place the hard boiled egg with shell in bag, close it tight and then press the egg until egg yolk is exposed.  Wait a while until the metal turns black.  Take it out, rinse it and then polish with steel wool.

Have fun!
